An Early Spring Day at the Farm

This is my first effort for Sky Watch Friday. Bear with me as I find my photography legs.

I took this photo at our farm in southeast Alabama one recent weekend. We saw the bluebirds checking out the house, so I grabbed the camera. I wasn't lucky enough to get them, but I tried.

Bluebirds are hard to find here in SW Ohio but there are some. They are also very particular about their nests.

I am impressed with your photography. Nice work.

Kay: Beautiful capture for SWF. I wish you had caught the bird. They make a hard target but this is so serene.

That's a lovely view. I love to see bluebird boxes. It's always inspiring to see people caring for these gentle creatures.

It's hard to get birds. Either they are moving too fast or sitting too far away. I have 10X zoom now so I am hoping to have better luck now. I once got close (relatively) to a great blue heron. I really thought those pictures would turn out great. But it was long before I had a digi camera. The heron looked even farther away in the photo than it had when I was standing there.

I like this! It gives me a peaceful, country-home feeling (trust me, the only place I feel at peace is in nature or in the country). Wonderful shot with great composition.

But the photo is great anyway!

I heard on the radio that the first bluebird in Vermont was spotted last week; it was south of here, but they have made it this far. I saw my first robin on the mountain today! Keep trying, you'll get it!! The colors and scenery are beautiful.

Kay, a beautiful, serene picture of the farm. It's very hard to catch a bluejay. I've tried and usually all you get is a little blue blur in the corner of the photo! Ha! :D
